Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to address National Youth Day Celebrations
Kimberley - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow Monday 16 June 2014, on behalf of President Jacob Zuma address the National Youth Day Celebrations scheduled for Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
Deputy President Ramaphosa will address the celebrations under the theme “Youth moving South Africa forward”. In this regard he will be supported by Ministers Jeff Radebe, Nathi Mthethwa and Deputy Minister Buti Manamela.
This year’s celebrations take place within the context of celebrations of 20 years since the dawn of peace, freedom, justice and democracy in South Africa.
The year 2014 marks the 38th anniversary since the 1976 Soweto Uprising where South African youth demonstrated against the imposition of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in particular and the injustices of apartheid in general.
The National Youth Celebrations will also be addressed by the Premier of the Northern Cape Sylvia Lucas, Ahmed Kathrada, Social cohesion and nation building Advocate and Chairperson of the National Development Agency (NYDA) Yershen Pillay.
