Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to address funeral service of former Secretary of Parliament, Michael Coetzee, Saturday 21 June, Cape Town

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver a eulogy at the funeral service of the late Secretary of Parliament, Michael Coetzee scheduled for Saturday 21 June 2014 at the St. Georges Cathedral, Wale Street, Cape Town.

Michael Coetzee passed away on Friday 13 June 2014 having battled cancer for a number of years. Coetzee was the Secretary of Parliament from November 2012 having served as Secretary of the Gauteng Legislature before.

In extending the government and the people of South Africa’s condolences to the Coetzee family, President Jacob Zuma earlier this week said “Mr Coetzee epitomised humility, dedication and service to the people in all the tasks he had been given as an activist and also as a professional. He was diligent in his work as Secretary of Parliament until his last days.

"He will be dearly remembered for his dedication to the struggle for liberation and also to making South Africa a better place for all. We extend our deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace," concluded President Zuma.
