Deputy President Ramaphosa to replace President Zuma at the National Teaching Awards 2016
Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will replace President Jacob Zuma at the 16th Annual National Teaching Awards ceremony in Johannesburg tomorrow.
President Zuma was unable to leave Burundi when his aircraft Inkwazi developed technical problems.
The awards ceremony is held to honour dedicated, creative and effective teachers and schools and also to recognise and promote excellence in teaching performance.
The awards, which will be held under the theme: Teachers – The Heartbeat of the Nation, is one of the ways in which the Department of Basic Education acknowledges and encourages dedicated and caring teachers in their efforts to develop each learner into South Africa’s leaders of the future.
