Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to answer Parliamentary Questions in the National Assembly, Wednesday, 19 November 2014, Cape Town

Cape Town - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will today, 19 November 2014 provide oral answers to questions by members of the National Assembly (NA), Parliament, Cape Town at 15h00.

In this regard, questions posed to Deputy President Ramaphosa by members of the National Assembly include among others: 

· How has he found can the country in practical ways achieve social cohesion in our communities and (b) how important is it for South Africans to enter into a new social compact to achieve the vision for a better South Africa?

· Did the President, Mr Jacob G Zuma, communicate to him as Leader of Government Business (LOGB) that he would not be answering questions for oral reply in the National Assembly during the third term of the First Session of the Fifth Parliament? 

· With reference to the roll-out of the expanded public works campaign, what has he found has been the impact on eradicating poverty, unemployment and inequality among the poor and the working class and contribution to the provision of social infrastructure and how does the programme contribute to the objectives of the National Development Plan?

· Whether he intends to fulfill his constitutional responsibility as Leader of Government Business (LOGB) to ensure the attendance of Members of the Cabinet, as appropriate, to parliamentary business by urging them to prioritise their availability to answer questions in the National Assembly when the Cluster of Ministers in which they appear, is scheduled by the Programme Committee to answer questions; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, how?

· Whether the Government will rationalise the Kings’ benefits in the country in order to treat them equally; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
