President Cyril Ramaphosa to participate in World Economic Forum Roundtable, Johannesburg
President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, Thursday 28 June 2018, participate in a roundtable of the World Economic Forum (WEF) with the South African government scheduled to take place at the Hyatt Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
The WEF Roundtable is convened in South Africa to shape an inclusive and sustainable agenda for economic growth, to address the triple challenge of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
Various stakeholders in both business and government will have the opportunity to engage on various issues of common interest and consider our country’s economic outlook.
In the State of the Nation Address delivered earlier this year, President Ramaphosa announced, as one of the measures towards inclusive growth, South Africa’s drive to increase new local and foreign direct investment as part of mobilizing resources for job creation and economic growth over the next five years.
Such new investments will contribute significantly in the attainment of the goals identified in the National Development Plan (NDP) and further advance the performance of the South African economy.
The WEF Roundtable will be preceded by a media briefing which will be addressed by the Minister of Finance, Nhlanhla Nene and the WEF Head of Regional Strategies for Africa, Elsie Kanza.
Details of the media briefing with the Minister of Finance are as follows:
