Deputy President Mabuza to present the South African position to the UN High Level Meeting on AIDS
Deputy President David Mabuza will, in his capacity as both the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa and Chairperson of the South African National Aids Council, lead the South African delegation at the United Nations High Level Meeting on HIV and AIDS taking place from 8 to 11 June 2021.
The Deputy President is scheduled to deliver a statement on South Africa’s position to the High Level meeting virtually today on Tuesday, 8 June 2021 at 17:30 (CAT). The statement by the Deputy President will form part of broader deliberations by member states towards the drafting of the Political Declaration towards ending AIDS. South Africa’s position is also informed by the Common Africa Position developed under the leadership of the Africa Union.
The Deputy President will be supported by the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, and Senior Government Officials.
