Deputy President to address the 6th annual Official Opening of the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders

Deputy President David Mabuza will on Thursday, 24 February 2022, address the sixth annual Opening of the National House of Traditional and  Khoi- San Leaders at the Good Hope Chamber, Parliament, Cape Town.  
 
The sixth annual Opening of the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders follows the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered  by President Cyril Ramaphosa, which has outlined the overall government programme of action for the next financial year. 
 
The institution of Traditional and Khoi-San leadership is an important pillar of unity and cohesion in our country’s democratic constitutional dispensation. As custodians of culture and heritage, Traditional and Khoi-San leaders promote the interests of citizens through their active participation in efforts to address the socio-economic challenges facing society broadly, especially those in traditional communities.   
 
In his address, Deputy President Mabuza will highlight the critical role that Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership play, as the legitimate voice of the people, and custodians of culture, customs and tradition, as well as an embodiment of our heritage, in partnership with government.
 
The Deputy President will further emphasise the critical importance of government working together with Traditional and Khoi-San leaders in resolving the complex challenges confronting society.
 
The annual Opening of the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders will be attended by Amakhosi, Amakhosikazi, Executive Members of Provincial Houses of Traditional Leaders, representatives of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa, National Khoi-San Council members, Cabinet Ministers, Premiers, MECs responsible for Traditional Affairs, Business and Religious Sector representatives, as well as representatives of Chapter 9 Institutions. 
   
The proceedings of the Opening of the National House of Traditional Leaders will take place in a hybrid format, with select members in attendance at a designated venue at the Good Hope Chambers in line with the dictates of COVID-19 protocols.
