Deputy President to visit the Biovac Manufacturing Facility in the Western Cape
Deputy President David Mabuza will on Thursday, 18 March 2021 visit the Biovac Manufacturing Facility in the Western Cape. The visit follows a similar visit to the institute in Gauteng.
The purpose of the visit is to provide the Deputy President, in line with his responsibility as Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Covid-19 Vaccines, an opportunity to witness the country’s scientific capabilities, biotechnology infrastructure and the investments made to support vaccine manufacturing and development efforts.
The manufacturing facility located in Cape Town performs product development, formulation and filling of vaccines, packaging, labelling as well as cold chain and distribution.
The visit will also serve as an opportunity to further explore the manufacturing of Covid-19 vaccines in South Africa.
