Deputy President Mabuza to chair the Human Resource Development Council meeting at UNISA Science Campus
Pretoria - Deputy President David Mabuza will on Friday, 22 June 2018, chair the 20th meeting of the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) at the University of South Africa (UNISA) Science Campus in Florida, Johannesburg, Gauteng.
The meeting will, amongst others, discuss a research study report on the nature and extent of partnerships between the post schooling institutions and industry, a presentation on the implementation of Artisan Training done through collaboration between the Department of Higher Education and Training and the Department of Public Enterprises.
The meeting will further receive a progress report on the establishment of the credible, institutional mechanism for Skills Planning in the country.
This is a project conducted by the Department of Higher Education and Training in partnership with Wits University and the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC).
Deputy President Mabuza will also be guided on a tour of the campus science state of the art laboratory facilities and engage with student researchers as part of the national focus on Youth Month as well as encouraging young people in the country to undertake their studies in scarce and critical skills disciplines.
Deputy President Mabuza is the Chairperson of the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa that was launched in 2010. The Council mobilises various stakeholders behind the country’s Human Resource Development Strategy towards 2030, which aims to develop skills that serve the needs of the economy and support the national objectives of radical economic transformation towards inclusive growth.
