Deputy President Mabuza to brief the NCOP on government strategies to revitalise provincial economies

Deputy President David Mabuza will tomorrow, Wednesday, 11 September 2019, field Questions for Oral Reply in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), which will focus on government strategies to revitalise provincial economies, address youth unemployment and fast-track land reform, at the Old Assembly Chamber, Parliament, Cape Town.

Deputy President Mabuza continues to provide regular updates to both National Houses through question and answer sessions for written and oral reply, as a way to enable Members of Parliament to exercise oversight over the executive. During this first session of the oral questions to the NCOP, the Deputy President will brief the Members on government strategies to develop and support provincial economies in order to create jobs and economic opportunities.  This is in line with delegated functions of the Deputy President to develop strategies to revitalise township and rural economies.

The Deputy President will also apprise Members on various government initiatives to address the prevailing challenge of youth unemployment.

As Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Land Reform, Deputy President Mabuza will update Members of progress achieved in the implementation of measures aimed at accelerating the land reform process in the country.

Other questions for oral reply by Deputy President Mabuza relate to inter-governmental debt owed, which poses a major challenge for municipalities in the provision of basic services to the people.
