Deputy President David Mabuza to address the commemoration of World Aids Day in Limpopo Province
Deputy President David Mabuza, in his capacity as Chairperson of the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), will deliver a keynote address at the World AIDS Day Commemoration event on Wednesday, 01 December 2021. The event will take place in a hybrid format, in Xikundu Village, Saselamani Stadium, Vhembe District, in the Limpopo province.
The World Aids Day will be commemorated under the theme “Working Together to End inequalities, AIDS, TB and COVID-19 - Get Tested. Get Vaccinated. Adhere to Treatment”. The theme emphasises the need for individuals to make the right health choices, by undergoing testing for HIV, TB and STI’s, to adhere to treatment and also to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The South African theme is aligned to the global theme for World AIDS Day, which is “End Inequalities. End AIDS”.
In his address, Deputy President Mabuza is expected to reiterate the importance of collective leadership and partnerships to achieve maximum impact of programmes as well as coupling meetings and events with outreach programmes in communities and taking the message to households.
As such, Deputy President will hold dialogues with Traditional leaders and Inter-Faith leaders in Limpopo as well as visiting households to take the message of getting tested, adhering to treatment and getting vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The Deputy President will be joined by Ms Steve Letsike, Deputy Chairperson of SANAC, Dr Joe Phaahla, Minister of Health, Mr Stanley Mathabatha, Premier of Limpopo, and development partners.
