Acting President Mabuza sends his condolences to the families of the deceased at a Denel depot explosion

The Acting President of the Republic of South Africa, David Mabuza has learned with sadness of the passing of eight people as a result of an explosion this afternoon at the Rheinmettal Denel Munitions in Somerset West in the Western Cape.
Denel is a South African state-owned aerospace and military technology enterprise.

“We have learned with sadness of the unfortunate explosion this afternoon that has reportedly claimed eight lives while injuring several others. We wish to express, on behalf of the country and Government, our deepest condolences to all the families of the deceased people. May their souls rest in peace,” said Acting President Mabuza.

The Acting President has also wished all those who were injured a speedy recovery and urged the authorities to get to the bottom of the cause of the explosion so that necessary action can be taken.
